So excited to share this music video with you guys. This was filmed on my trip to Israel last year. We didn’t plan on making a music video, so it was pretty impromptu. I just wanted to capture the beauty of Israel and this song seemed to fit perfectly with the scenery. I hope you enjoy and if you ever have a chance to visit Israel, DO IT!! It’s truly life changing. -Sarah
Raised in a family of musicians, music has always been embedded in Sarah Reeves’ genes. But a radical encounter with God at the age of 15 forever changed her focus. “I was attending a youth camp in Alabama when I felt a clear calling on my life to lead people into the presence of God through music. I had a Moses moment as I felt everything opposite of confident and adequate for the task God laid out before me. It was an overwhelming thought for a shy and introverted teenager. However, an incredible peace came over me along with the assurance of the promise that His power is perfected in my weakness.”
Sarah started her journey by signing with Sparrow Records at the age of 18 touring with Britt Nicole, Josh Wilson, and Rush of Fools along with several others. She has made her way throughout the country leading worship in a wide variety of places such as Acquire the Fire, Crystal Cathedral, and National Assemblies of God events as well as leading worship for Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and other women’s conferences.
After a few years of touring the US and leading the church in worship, Sarah encountered a season of life where she says she took it all for granted. “I became jaded and realized that my identity was music and everything revolved around me. It’s crazy how quickly pride can sneak in even when the thing you do every night is connect people to the heart of God. I specifically remember praying a prayer when God called me to this when I was 15 years old, “If this ever becomes about me, take it all away”. Be careful what you pray for! It became about me and when it did, doors started to close. When that happened, I stepped back and lived some real life for a while and God graciously humbled me. I realized that living real life means exactly what Jesus says in Matthew 6:33. He tells His disciples, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” That’s where life is found…the abundant life that God promises. In the process of stripping everything away and gutting out the pride in my life, God was able to begin shaping my character and my integrity. He placed the things inside of me that needed to be there to prepare me for this new season of life where He’s giving it all back and allowing me to step into the music again.”
In 2013, Sarah relaunched her youtube channel by releasing her own versions of worship covers. Since then, Sarah has experienced rapid growth on her channel as she has gained over 75,000 youtube subscribers and over 13 million views from all over the world. Her success on youtube has widely opened the door for more ministry opportunities and she has stayed busy traveling and leading worship. Songwriting has also been a huge part of Sarah’s journey. In 2015, she co-wrote the title track of “Let it Echo” as well as “In Your Presence” on the latest Jesus Culture album. She also co-wrote “Never Miss a Beat” on Natalie Grant’s latest album. In summer of 2015, Sarah was contacted by gospel artist, Kirk Franklin to be featured on his album “Losing my Religion” where she sang along side Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs and Tamela Mann. She states, “It was one of the most surreal experiences that I’ve ever had as Kirk has been a hero to me since I was a young girl. I didn’t chase or ask for this opportunity. It just proves that God can do whatever he wants without us striving. It was truly a gift and an unforgettable moment.”
Although she enjoys singing worship covers on youtube and songwriting for other artists, the pieces of her own puzzle have been falling into place as she is entering into an exciting new season of making her own music. She is wrapping up a record deal with Word Records and there is an excitement and energy in the air as she begins the process of her album. “My inner artist and worship leader have been battling each other for years and I’ve put off the creativity in myself to settle for what I feel has been comfortable and safe. One day I received a musical track from a fellow songwriter as he wanted me to write a lyric and melody on top of it. The track was fresh and pop-ish. I decided to just have fun with it and write from my heart. It’s not a typical worship song that you would hear at a church on a Sunday morning (yet), but its still worship. Through this song, I felt the Holy Spirit give me an amazing clarity for the musical direction I’m suppose to go. It’s not typical. It’s not safe. It’s a new sound I believe God is stirring in many artists/worshipers and we can’t be afraid to let it out. I have been challenged this year to not duplicate anyone else, but to pull creativity from the Creator of the universe. I have found such freedom and my soul has come alive more than ever before while making this music. I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
