HITTING THE BREAKS is a new Christian sitcom. MOVIEGUIDE® has screened the first two episodes.

After a career-ending crash, former racecar driver Randy Wilcox moves his wife Charlie, and two daughters Darcy and Delancey, from Atlanta to a small town in Colorado, where he has inherited his estranged father’s bed and breakfast, Serenity Inn. The family learns to love the eccentric townsfolk, who have become their neighbors, as they learn that Randy’s drunkard, gambling father may have had a change of heart before his death.

The basic story behind HITTING THE BREAKS is interesting, and the setup for each episode has great potential. While the jokes don’t always land, some of the characters are reminiscent of classic TV show likes THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. The Wilcox family are like “fish out of water” as they adapt to country, small town life, which many viewers will find amusing. The “moral of the story” moments, utilizing Randy’s father’s journal at the end of each episode add heart, and moral lessons.

Content-wise, HITTING THE BREAKS is suitable for the entire family, aside from some bathroom humor. While the jokes aren’t brilliantly written, but the characters are quirky and likable, and it’s refreshing to have a light-hearted sitcom that’s appropriate for families.
